About Mt Peter Reservoir Project
Cairns Regional Council is preparing to deliver the Mt Peter Reservoir Project — a major investment in water infrastructure that will support the growing Mt Peter community for years to come.
The project includes a new water reservoir and supporting infrastructure designed to strengthen the local water network and support future homes, services, and development in the area.
As works get underway, Council will keep the community informed about the upcoming activities, changes to traffic conditions, and what residents can expect during construction.
The Mt Peter Reservoir Project will:
• Support reliable water services for the growing community
• Increase water storage capacity for future demand
• Strengthen the local water network
• Deliver modern infrastructure to support future growth in the area
The project includes:
• A new 8ML water reservoir
• Future low level reservoir pad
• New pipelines and supporting infrastructure
• Access roads and site works
As construction gets underway, nearby residents and road users may notice:
• Increased construction vehicle movements
• Temporary traffic management changes during construction including Mt Peter Road
• Noise, dust, and general construction activity
• Delivery and stockpiling of construction materials
