Facility summary
Sugarworld is a user-pay facility. The park is managed by Belgravia Health and Leisure Group, valid until February 2027, with an existing option to extend a further 10 years.
Sugarworld Adventure Park contains:
Key future considerations
- Sugarworld is currently a tired facility that offers no significantly different provisions from those the community can access elsewhere.
- Without investment, Sugarworld will continue to be an increasing drain on Council resources.
- The community survey suggests there is strong community interest in aquatic facilities from this catchment with 29% of respondents coming from Edmonton and Bentley Park.
- Secondary spend offerings are poor, these elements are essential to optimising the viability of a recreation leisure facility.
- There is a need for contemporary CPTED design outcomes to reduce the impact of regular vandalism and break-ins.
- The Sugarworld site location is ideally positioned to service the current and future Edmonton and Mount Peter catchments.
A future district aquatic centre
The Sugarworld precinct is perfectly placed to become a future aquatic hub. The proposed plan includes a much needed upgrade of the facilities of the Sugarworld Adventure Park itself and the construction of a brand new pool to service Edmonton and the growth area of Mount Peter.
